It’s the final push to pick up any (literally) loose ends and try to get everything siliconed.

Guernsey Arts Commission, in conjunction with the Sarah Groves Foundation, is seeking volunteers 18+ yrs old to support the Guernsey Lantern Parade.

Video of Lantern Parade 2014

This fun spectacle of rhythm and light brings together the community of Guernsey to mark the end of winter. Volunteering is a fantastic way to experience this event!!

We require two sets of volunteers for Saturday the 14th of March.

5.00pm at Churchill Avenue to help with the distribution of the Lanterns and co-ordinate the start of the parade. You would also walk alongside the parade and support it at Albert Pier.

5.00pm at Albert Pier. Watch the parade arrive and get to see SPARK! upfront. We will need your help to set up the pier and display the lanterns along the pier when the parade arrives.

We expect that we will all be finished by 8.30pm.

For further information or to volunteer please contact Antonia Ramsey on 01481 709746 or

Please can you let us know if you would like to volunteer by the 9th of March? You will then be asked to attend a meeting on Thursday the 12th of March at Les Cotils from 5.30-6.30pm (Teas and Coffees will be provided) to give us the opportunity to go through the event and the roles of the volunteers.

Fri 6 Mar.  From 7:00 — 9:30pm at Le Murier School (to the left of St Sampsons’ High School)

We’re most of the way through now I think.  Hopefully we can finish installation and get them siliconed tonight too — then they can be left to cure undisturbed over the weekend.

REVIEW: Mon 2 Mar 2015

What a super celebration of our third birthday!  Hugh Rose captivated us with his journey and techniques of custom toy making and conversations ran from tidal hydropower to beach glass jewellery to carbon nanotubes to CNC laser etching!

Many thanks to everyone who came, contributed and especially to Athene and her cake making crew!  Nerd Cakes FTW!

Weds 4 Mar.  From 7:00pm at Le Murier School (to the left of St Sampsons’ High School)

Bring a soldering iron if you have one but don’t worry if you don’t.

We have 25 drums to light up with mostly two strips of lights each.  Many hands make light work and all that.

Bring earplugs if you have ‘em!  They’re a noisy bunch!  ;)

Nerd Night: Mon 2 MAR 2015

It’s our 3rd birthday so it’s PARTY TIME!IMG_6604IMG_3547

Of course that means cake — and if you fancy baking a little something to bring and share we certainly won’t stop you!  ;P

Captain Spaulding

As if the promise of cake wasn’t enough, we’ve got artist Hugh Rose joining us.

He’ll be talking about the process of designing your own toy from scratch and all of the technical skills involved from sketch to blueprint, prototyping to moldmaking and finally from casting to finishing.

Diver Prototype

Hugh is busy preparing for ToyCon UK in Bethnal Green, London, where he will be releasing a new figure, tentatively entitled ‘Diver’.  ToyCon UK is Europe’s premier designer toy convention, a vibrant gathering of toy customisers, designers, retailers and producers.

Paul will be sharing his latest Round-Up of all things weird and wonderful from the maker world and Marcel will bring an update on the upcoming Lantern Parade from the Arts Commission.

Come, discover, share and discuss.

Everyone: welcome.  The more the merrier!

Under 18s:  also welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.

Entry: FREE!

Dress-code: evening wear.

Venue: The Albion pub in St Peter Port.  Next to the Town Church.

Kick off: 7:30pm

PROJECT: Lights!

We made a start but due to the limited amount of time available and a good deal of discussion required to problem solve the installation on the various types of drum, we only got four done.

Now we know where we’re going it should be much quicker next week.  :D
