We’ll also be talking about our merger with the Beer Code Design group and our hopes for the upcoming Makerspace outreach engagements.

REVIEW: The Big Geekend 2015

We’ve had a fabulous weekend filled with 3D printing, laser etching, an impromptu lecture and demonstration and LOTS of wonderful people to meet.  Thank you to Guernsey Museums for organising and thank you to everyone that came along.

The Big Geekend!

Sat 30th & Sun 31st May — 10am-4pm

We’ve got a stand at this event.  Adrian will have his 3D printer in action, Marcel will be running his laser etcher and playing with LEGO but anyone can join us for some or all of the time — or even just provide projects that can be displayed.

Millennium Falcon, and other Corellian Light Freighters

Marcel will be unveiling his titchy laser cutting and etching machine, Paul will be sharing the latest cream from the maker world and naturally we’ll have our usual Shout Out and Break Out opportunities for you to share your projects, ask for help or just chat and fiddle about with things brought along.

There’ll also be exciting news of the proposed Makerspace and a summer programme of outreach engagements!

Guernsey Arts Commission, in conjunction with the Sarah Groves Foundation, is seeking volunteers 18+ yrs old to support the Guernsey Lantern Parade.

Video of Lantern Parade 2014

This fun spectacle of rhythm and light brings together the community of Guernsey to mark the end of winter. Volunteering is a fantastic way to experience this event!!

We require two sets of volunteers for Saturday the 14th of March.

5.00pm at Churchill Avenue to help with the distribution of the Lanterns and co-ordinate the start of the parade. You would also walk alongside the parade and support it at Albert Pier.

5.00pm at Albert Pier. Watch the parade arrive and get to see SPARK! upfront. We will need your help to set up the pier and display the lanterns along the pier when the parade arrives.

We expect that we will all be finished by 8.30pm.

For further information or to volunteer please contact Antonia Ramsey on 01481 709746 or antonia@arts.gg

Please can you let us know if you would like to volunteer by the 9th of March? You will then be asked to attend a meeting on Thursday the 12th of March at Les Cotils from 5.30-6.30pm (Teas and Coffees will be provided) to give us the opportunity to go through the event and the roles of the volunteers.
